Open Position(s)

  • Writer – Intern

About The Position

Become a creative purveyor of all things funky! We are currently seeking individuals who possess the I’ve Been Funked (IBF) passion for sharing art, music and culture with others in fresh and creative ways. Previous experience in music or arts journalism and/or creative writing strongly desired. Knowledge of wordpress or other blogging applications preferred. Photography and/or videography enthusiasts sought as well.

IBF is in its first year of growth. We want to build an eclectic team of documentarians, connoisseurs, journalists, music geeks, art fiends and image takers to enrich our content and share the best of underground arts and music with our readers.

The positions are unpaid, but the perks of building your portfolio, free shows and network building are all here as we continue to grow! IBF can work with your academic institution to provide school and/or internship credit as well.

We are here to share what we like – what’s moved us and what keeps us going. We select the different, beautiful, quirky, funky, soulful, and groundbreaking in all genres ranging from street art to fine art, indie rock to hip hop, soul to world beats, documentaries to cult classics.

Our expectation is that IBF contributing writers offer our audience precise and artful views on their subjects, considering context without getting lost in it, all the while staying funky fresh.

Please submit the following:

  • Bio of 200-300 words describing your work and/or educational background and what “funks” you up (i.e. favorite music, art, film genres and artists).
  • 2 samples of published work, academic work and/or creative pieces or projects.
  • At least 3 samples of personal photography, photojournalistic work and/or videography clips.
